In May 2024, Chorus One launched a pooled staking experience powered by StakeWise Vaults to serve retail ETH holders through Opus, its dedicated app for users who want to stake any amount of ETH with a trusted operator.
Soon after launch, Opus was integrated into Ledger Live, enabling even more ETH holders to access Chorus One Opus pooled staking through a familiar, self-custodial interface—powered by StakeWise.
Today, Opus is used by ~10,000 users, with over 65,000 ETH staked.
When evaluating how to bring pooled staking to retail users, Chorus One explored whether to build internally or partner externally—choosing the option that would result in the most robust, secure, and scalable best-in-class offering. In particular, Chorus One wanted:
Complete control over the staking setup. Chorus One sought full flexibility to configure all key parameters of the staking environment—especially around MEV and relay selection—without relying on rigid third-party structures.
Ability to run own nodes and maximize rewards. Chorus One wanted to operate validators directly to fully utilize proprietary technology and a MEV-maximizing approach.
Access to liquid staking and DeFi. Chorus One aimed to pair pooled staking with optional liquidity and DeFi utility, giving users a path to broader capital efficiency if they wanted it.
A secure, scalable route to market. Whether built internally or sourced externally, the priority was a dependable, high-performance foundation that could scale with retail demand.
Pooled Staking: Powered by StakeWise
StakeWise Vaults were a strong match for the Opus product vision and operational requirements.
Built on a modular architecture, StakeWise Vaults are isolated, highly customizable staking pools where key parameters are controlled by the pool owner. This enabled Chorus One to:
Deploy a dedicated public Vault with no blocklist/whitelist
Run nodes in-house as the sole node operator
Choose its own MEV relays
Implement a proprietary MEV-maximizing approach
Offer users optional access to a liquid staking token, osETH, for deeper capital efficiency and DeFi participation
A key advantage of this setup is that users who prefer simple pooled staking can participate directly, while those who want liquidity and DeFi utility can opt into osETH—a token widely integrated across protocols such as Aave, Compound, Fluid, EigenLayer, and others.
Alongside these capabilities, Chorus One benefited from the permissionless and non-custodial model of StakeWise Vaults, allowing retail users to stake without needing to trust either Chorus One or StakeWise with custody of funds or with manual processing of withdrawals.

Integration Details
Chorus One Opus pooled staking is based on a dedicated StakeWise Vault configured and owned by Chorus One. The Vault’s admin wallet controls the customizable parameters of its staking environment, including staking fee configuration, fee distribution, validator operations, MEV relays, and tokenization approach.
The Opus user experience is custom-built by Chorus One and designed specifically for retail simplicity. It relies on the StakeWise SDK so users can interact with the Chorus One Vault for deposits and withdrawals, and uses the StakeWise subgraph to fetch general and personalized staking data inside Opus.
This same foundation made it straightforward to expand distribution through Ledger Live, where ETH holders can stake with Chorus One Opus via a familiar interface—while still benefiting from the StakeWise Vault framework under the hood.

Results
Since launching in May 2024, Chorus One Opus—powered by StakeWise—has grown into a meaningful retail staking channel with ~10,000 users and over 65,000 ETH staked.
The product combines the strengths of both teams: Chorus One’s validator expertise and proprietary MEV approach, with StakeWise’s modular Vault infrastructure and integration stack. This model offers a rare balance of:
We are proud to support Chorus One’s retail expansion and help deliver a pooled staking experience that is secure, customizable, and designed to scale.
